Federal Regulations require all eligible defaulted loans to be assigned to the United States Department of Education for collection. Eligible defaulted loans include but are not limited to:

• Defaulted loans held by the guaranty agency for five years.
• Borrower of defaulted loan has not made a payment on the account in the last year.
